Sahlab Middle East Pudding is a sweet milk pudding. It’s quick and easy to make, and it’s absolutely delicious! Sahlab Middle East Milk Pudding will definitely warm you up during the cold winter days. Sahlab is one of the most popular Middle Eastern drinks. It is such a comforting drink that works well for a winter dessert or an afternoon drink. It is healthy and not too sweet.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups (1 litre) whole milk
  • 3 and ½ tablespoons (25g) cornstarch
  • 6 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon desiccated coconut
  • ¼ cup chopped nuts walnuts or pistachios
  • 2 tablespoons raisins optional

Method:

  • Combine milk, cornstarch, sugar, and vanilla extract and beat with a whisk over medium heat, bring to boil and let the mixture boil for 2 minutes while stirring. (Or until thick and creamy).
  • Serve hot in mugs and top with a sprinkle of cinnamon, desiccated coconut, and pistachios or walnuts on each serving.
  • For a low sugar version: skip adding the powdered sugar and use your preferred sweetener when making the drink itself.
  • For a vegan version use vegan milk powder ( like soy, rice, coconut..etc) and use almond milk , macadamia milk or oat milk.
  • Sahlab powder can be stored in a cool, dry place for as long as your ingredients are good.
